On Monday, our Reception class went out of school….. on a trip to The Blue Planet Aquarium. WOW! We had a super day learning about and exploring the ‘Under the Sea’ world. We traveled there by coach, playing ‘eye spy’ all the way! When we arrived, we went into our classroom session and learnt the names of different types of sea creatures; starfish, lobsters, dogfish, catfish, lots of fish with funny names…. (Did you know there was a ‘football’ fish?), octopuses, stingrays and sharks.
Next it was time to watch the divers in the tank and my oh my, what a HUGE tank it was. They wer very brave to swim in the big tank with all those sharks…… Arghhh!! The stingrays were really cute though, as we could see their little faces underneath when they swam past; it almost looked like they were laughing at us

After dinner we began our tour of the Aquarium and were amazed to see how many different parts there were to see and walk round. It seemed that everything we saw was better and more exciting than the last bit. Everybody really enjoyed the open tank were you could touch the top of the stingrays’ backs but everyone’s ”bestest favourite” was the under water tunnel. It felt like we were walking under the sea next to all the creatures and fish. You could see them sooooo close and almost touch them. Nobody wanted to come back to school at the end of the day, but we did with lots of stories and tales to tell our friends and family about.
Mrs Wakefield, Mrs Casson and Mrs Sheffield wanted to say a BIG thank you to our parents who came to help us on the day, we hope that you enjoyed it as much as we did.
We must also say WELL DONE to all our children who behaved so well throughout the day. There were other schools on a visit there too and you made us very proud to be from Lower Kersal; even the coach driver commented on the good behaviour and polite manners of our pupils. Excellent news ![]()

Thank you very much for letting us go Mr Ashton, we really did enjoy it and it was great to see all the things that we have been learning about in our topic work.
